This fall, the Parrish Art Museum will present an exhibition spanning Audrey Flack's career. The showcase will feature works from various periods, including her early Abstract Expressionist pieces, iconic photorealist paintings, and recent "Post-Pop Baroque" series. The exhibition will encompass paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures, ranging from new works to pieces from the 1940s and 1950s.
Audrey Flack is a renowned painter and sculptor, recognized as a pioneer of photorealism. Her work is included in numerous prestigious collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Flack holds the distinction of being the first photorealist painter whose work was acquired by MoMA for its permanent collection. Throughout her career, she has completed several public commissions and a major retrospective of her work toured museums across the country beginning in 1992.
Flack has been an influential educator, lecturing extensively both in the United States and internationally. She has received numerous accolades and is the author of three books on art. Notably, Flack is one of only two women artists, along with Mary Cassatt, to be included in Janson's "History of Art" textbook. The artist's work has been the subject of several publications, and she is currently working on a memoir.
